Day 1 Arrive Mulu/Penan Settlement/Camp 5

Meet on arrival at Mulu Airport. Take a long boat and cruise along the winding rivers to a tribal Penan settlement. Brief stop to learn about this unique community. Picnic lunch at Clearwater summer huts before continuing your journey by longboat to Long Litut. Trek 8KM to Camp 5 on mostly flat ground (average 3 hours walk). Camp 5 is a basic forest shelter, with bathrooms, kitchens, dining room and five rooms with raised sleeping platforms. Sleeping mats are provided but visitors are required to bring their own bedding. Enjoy a relaxing swim at the nearby river. Dinner and overnight at Camp 5 (L/D).

Day 2 Gunung Api/ Pinnacles/Camp 5

After breakfast, start climbing Gunung Api. The trail to the top is only 2.4 km long but rises 1,200 metres to the viewpoint. The last section of the trail is near vertical with rope sections and ladders to climb. Average climbers take 3 - 4 hours to reach the top. Once you reach the top, spectacular view of the Pinnacles formations awaits you. Mulu’s Pinnacles tower above the surrounding landscape, some reaching heights of 40 to 50 metres.  Centuries of water have eroded and dissolved the rock into razor sharp spikes which knife skywards through the surrounding rainforest. The trail itself, which climbs steeply from the Melinau Gorge passes through some intriguing limestone forest and as you reach the higher altitudes includes some spectacular pitcher plants (Nepenthes sp.), sightings of rare orchids and Mountain Shrews. Enjoy your pack lunch at the observatory point. After lunch start descending to Camp 5. Dinner and overnight at Camp 5 (B/L/D)

Day 3 Clearwater Spring/Departure

Breakfast at Camp 5 and retrace your steps back to Long Litut and transfer to Clearwater summer hut for picnic lunch. Take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters outside the cave where the river emerges from the cliff face. Transfer by longboat to Mulu airport for your departure flight (B/L)

   4. Sales period from 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017. Travel must complete by 31 March 2017 unless otherwise stated

   6. Items not utilised in this package are non-refundable and non-exchangeable
   7. Items not included in the itinerary are chargeable at extra cost.
   8. All Tours and Transfers are on sharing (seat in coach basis).  Private tour is available at a surcharge of RM265 nett per group for group size 1-14 person (guide and boat only)

What to bring : Personal flashlight, insect repellent, sunblock lotion, swimwear, towel, cap, disposable raincoat, own drinking bottle, snacks, personal first aid kit, personal items, sleeping bag.

What to wear : Good flexible trekking shoes (Rock surfaces can be slippery & sharp), cotton t-shirt (short or long-sleeved) with long or short pants.
